Hi, I’m Robert White. My clients always get a chuckle at the fact that my path to becoming their IP attorney went through the bio labs at the College of Charleston and Johns Hopkins University. While seemingly unrelated to IP on the surface, fields such as biotech very much involve regulatory affairs and IP matters associated with building groundbreaking new concepts around this type of technology.
And that’s what inspired my own big idea. I believe, as an IP attorney, that I can facilitate the development of new technologies by protecting your rights from infringement or helping you enter the market by establishing those rights from the ground up. More importantly, I believe it should be an open and affordable process that’s accessible to anyone pushing the bounds of innovation.
See, IP firms traditionally charge hundreds of dollars an hour to perform things like prior art searches and draft patent applications before charging even more to prosecute those applications. Incredibly, some out there may also skip critical steps in the process meant to prevent major issues down the road that result in wasted time, weak patents, or both. It dawned on me very quickly that many individuals may not be able to bear the costs of securing and protecting IP rights, much less notice when their representatives are cutting important corners.
